Kids Challenge is an online game for children ages 8-10 aimed at battling childhood obesity by encouraging children to increase their healthy behaviors. The game is part of the Kohl's Cares Moving4Health program, which has a mission to provide innovative childhood obesity prevention education, resources and activities that result in positive behavior change in children. Find out more about Kohl's Cares Moving4Health.
The Moving4Health program promotes "everyday health 4 everyday kids". Even small changes can make a big difference in a child's health and have a major impact on childhood obesity. By encouraging children to be more active and consume a more healthy diet on a day-to-day basis, we are hoping to create ongoing positive habits in children that will help them to live long, happy and disease-free lives.
Children participating in Kids Challenge are encouraged to log on to the Moving4Health website to log their Kids Challenge Journal every day, where they are asked to track:
Each healthy choice earns the child a point. Points accumulate and earn the child electronic badges, which they can boast about to their friends. Parents are kept up to date on their child's progress through emails that provide fun ways they can encourage and support their child in throughout the Challenge.
Kids Challenge is usually presented as part of a school health initiative, where classes compete against each other to accumulate the most points. However, any child can participate in Kids Challenge and can earn points and accumulate badges on their own.
